Indigenous Student Navigator/Event Coordinator

Job Summary:

The College of the Rockies is seeking a highly motivated and culturally sensitive Indigenous Student Navigator/Event Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our Indigenous Education team, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic success and well-being of Indigenous students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a recruitment strategy to attract and retain Indigenous students
  • Provide academic and personal support to Indigenous students, including guidance on college policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with the Ktunaxa Nation and Indigenous communities to develop culturally appropriate practices and protocols
  • Coordinate cultural activities and events for Indigenous students and the College community
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to the Indigenous Education team

Qualifications:

  • University Studies Certificate in Indigenous Studies, Social Work, Human Service Worker, or equivalent
  • Indigenous Studies preferred
  • Minimum two years of related experience working with Indigenous students, communities, and organizations
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of Ktunaxa culture and local Indigenous communities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and event planning experience
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

  • CUPE Pay Level 5 with a starting wage of $50,468.60 per year
