Job Summary

Federated Co-operatives Limited is seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Home Centre Clerk I. This role is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a clean and organized store environment, and supporting the sales process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provide information, assistance, and service to customers to promote the sale of merchandise and meet their needs and requirements.
  • Merchandise Preparation: Unpack, check, price, and prepare merchandise for sale, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Store Maintenance: Perform general housekeeping duties, including dusting shelves and merchandise, and maintaining a clean and safe store environment.
  • Carryout Services: Provide carryout services for customers as requested, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Inventory Management: Stock shelves, counters, and display areas with merchandise as required, maintaining optimal inventory levels.
  • Complaint Resolution: Address minor complaints in accordance with general sales policy and refer more serious complaints to the appropriate personnel.
  • Cash Handling: Operate a cash register and prepare daily reconciliation as assigned, maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Loss Prevention: Maintain a constant alert against the unauthorized removal of merchandise, ensuring store security and integrity.
Requirements
  • Service Orientation: Strong service orientation and motivation, with the ability to serve and assist customers in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Product Knowledge: Prepared to increase product knowledge and improve selling techniques through special courses, product clinics, and training sessions.
  • Hardware and Building Materials Experience: Sufficient experience of hardware and building materials to effectively operate in all areas of the department.
  • Physical Demands: Demonstrated ability to fulfill physical job requirements, including lifting and carrying of heavy objects.
  • Availability: Ability to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends, as required.
