The estimated salary for this position is around $80,000-$100,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Job Description

This is a senior-level position that requires extensive knowledge and experience in navigation and deck operations. As the Chief Mate, you will be responsible for overseeing loading and unloading of cargo, supervising activities of the deck crew, and other duties not carried out by the Captain.

You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with Company Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental Policies, as well as navigating the vessel safely and efficiently.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Chief Mate Certificate issued by Transport Canada
  • Specialized Oil Tanker Training Endorsement
  • Radio Operator's License (or GOC)
  • Certificate of Proficiency for Vessel Personnel with Security Responsibilities
  • Great Lakes Pilotage Authority (GLPA) certificate holder (preferred)
  • Canadian passport or permanent residence status
  • MED training with respect to STCW Basic Safety
  • MED training with respect to proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats
  • MED in advanced fire fighting
  • Marine Medical

In addition to these requirements, you should have at least 2 years of recent experience, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to analyze and adjust work procedures for maximum efficiency.
