About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Food Service Worker to join our team at Country Grocer Salt Spring Island. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Greet customers and discuss their needs, providing advice on merchandise and services.
  • Food Preparation and Service: Prepare, heat, and finish simple food items, package take-out food, and serve customers at counters or buffet tables.
  • Inventory Management: Receive, unpack, and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage areas.
  • Cash Handling: Operate a cash register, handle cash, cheques, credit card, or automatic debit payment.
  • Store Maintenance: Clean and sanitize kitchen areas, including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances, and equipment.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate with colleagues to achieve sales goals and maintain a positive work environment.
Requirements
  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required.
  • Experience: Experience an asset.
  • Physical Demands: Standing for extended periods, lifting up to 23 kg (50 lbs), and working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Personal Suitability: Client focus, efficient interpersonal skills, reliability, team player, ability to multitask, initiative, dependability, and positive attitude.
