Job Title: Full-Time Educational Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Full-Time Educational Assistant to join our team at F.P. Walshe School in Fort Macleod, Alberta.

About the Role:

Under the direction of the Learning Support Teacher, the successful candidate will provide one-on-one and small group assistance for students to help meet their learning goals. This will involve working collaboratively with the Learning Support Team to provide in-class supports for students with Individual Student Plans (ISPs).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one and small group assistance for students to help meet their learning goals
  • Work collaboratively with the Learning Support Team to provide in-class supports for students with ISPs
  • Build relationships with students who require patience and flexibility
  • Experience working with students with different diagnoses, including Autism and complex behaviors
  • Physically fit and able to keep up with the demands of working with a student with complex needs
Requirements:
  • Experience working with students in one-on-one, small group, and inclusive classroom settings
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with students who require patience and flexibility
  • Experience and training in working with students with different diagnoses
  • Experience working collaboratively with a Learning Support Team
  • Physically fit and able to keep up with the demands of working with a student with complex needs
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education Assistant certification and/or Health Care Aide certification or equivalent
  • NVCI and/or SIVA training
