About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Bylaw Services team as a Bylaw Enforcement Officer. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the City of Prince George is a safe and livable community for all residents and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Bylaw Services Division in enforcing municipal bylaws and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Proactively respond to concerns related to public safety and cleanliness in the downtown core.
  • Monitor the security of City facilities and parkades.
  • Receive and investigate bylaw complaints, communicate with the public, and educate others on bylaw requirements.
  • Take action to achieve compliance when violations have occurred.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 diploma.
  • Bylaw Enforcement and Investigative Skills Certificate Program, Level 1, through the Justice Institute of BC.
  • Formal training in conflict resolution techniques and customer service.
  • Valid WorkSafe BC Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 1 certification (asset).
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience dealing with the public, interpreting policies, rules, and regulations, and applying them to gain compliance.
  • Valid Class 5 BC driver's license (or out of province equivalent).
  • Police Information Check for offences related to the position.
What We Offer
  • Competitive wage of $33.71-$34.50 per hour (wage under review).
  • 12% in lieu of benefits.
  • Term positions expected to last longer than 6 months are eligible for benefits and pension.
