Lakeridge Health is seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our team in the Combined Med/Surg - Port Perry department. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to a positive work environment.
Job Summary:We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse to work in a dynamic and fast-paced medical unit. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to patient-centered care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Responsibilities:- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients with stable conditions
- Administer treatments as ordered by physicians and assigned by Patient Care Manager
- Observe and enforce infection control principles and aseptic techniques to prevent nosocomial and communicable diseases
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Registered Practical Nurse Diploma from an accredited community college
- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current B.C.L.S.
- Coronary Care I course (Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation) required or must enroll within 3 months of commencing in position and successfully complete within 12 months of commencing in position
- Proven ability to work at full scope of practice
- Proven related and effective experience in a Medical Unit or similar environment
- Updated nursing skills including Aseptic Techniques and Patient Assessment courses
- Must have current certificate in Medication Administration
- Knowledge and experience in wound care
- Proven sound judgment, good observation, tact, and empathy
- Effective organizational, problem-solving, and teaching skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to effectively prioritize work
- Ability to perform appropriately in emergency situations
- Must have a satisfactory performance record
- Demonstrated commitment to maintain Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario
- The ability to physically lift, turn, and transfer patients manually and with the assistance of mechanical aids

- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive Safety programs and practices, including staff safety, patient safety, and Environmental safety, and participation in regular in-service education sessions
- The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364
- Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months
