Job Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse to work in a dynamic and fast-paced medical unit. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to patient-centered care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients with stable conditions
  • Administer treatments as ordered by physicians and assigned by Patient Care Manager
  • Observe and enforce infection control principles and aseptic techniques to prevent nosocomial and communicable diseases
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Registered Practical Nurse Diploma from an accredited community college
  • Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current B.C.L.S.
  • Coronary Care I course (Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation) required or must enroll within 3 months of commencing in position and successfully complete within 12 months of commencing in position
  • Proven ability to work at full scope of practice
  • Proven related and effective experience in a Medical Unit or similar environment
  • Updated nursing skills including Aseptic Techniques and Patient Assessment courses
  • Must have current certificate in Medication Administration
  • Knowledge and experience in wound care
  • Proven sound judgment, good observation, tact, and empathy
  • Effective organizational, problem-solving, and teaching skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to effectively prioritize work
  • Ability to perform appropriately in emergency situations
  • Must have a satisfactory performance record
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintain Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • The ability to physically lift, turn, and transfer patients manually and with the assistance of mechanical aids

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive Safety programs and practices, including staff safety, patient safety, and Environmental safety, and participation in regular in-service education sessions
