As a Senior FPGA Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing avionics products for critical safety and/or military applications under the supervision of the AEH Engineering Manager. As a key member of the development team, you will be involved in defining, implementing, testing, and delivering firmware designs using standard processes to develop competitive global solutions and provide superior performance, quality, and cost objectives.

Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Utilizing the AEH DO-254 development and certification process related to functional allocation, design, simulation, synthesis, placement, and routing, planning, testing, verification, and production introduction;
  • Designing digital point-of-sale material using technologies such as processor interfaces and DSP, video signal processing, input/output blocks, and standard logic;
  • Supporting architecture, design, and development of printed circuit boards for prototyping and implementing complex digital systems on FPGA or ASIC;
  • Participating in bid proposals and program development, estimating, and project planning;
  • Ensuring supervision and follow-up of AEH activities for a team of developers and verifiers, including task allocation, result planning, budget, and risk management;
  • Serving as the primary interface with other design groups to ensure alignment of design steps and deadlines;
  • Using CMC development processes and participating in design reviews focusing on key performance characteristics, safety/reliability, testing, and manufacturability;
  • Analyzing system and/or sub-system functional requirements and participating in defining functional and performance requirements for the FPGA;
  • Directing and participating in defining validation and verification plans for the FPGA;
  • Developing verification test benches for simulation, components, and functional models in SystemVerilog, using standardized verification methodologies such as UVM;
  • Developing and implementing test procedures in embedded environments on board cards;
  • Preparing, documenting, and executing test procedures and writing test reports;
  • Producing documentation on requirements, design descriptions, testing, and production support;
  • Supporting direction, systems engineering, and manufacturing in various planning or problem-solving tasks.
Requirements

To join our team, you must possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering (or equivalent);
  • Seven (7) years or more of industrial experience in designing and verifying complex digital systems on FPGA;
  • Experienced technical supervisor or team lead of junior team members;
  • Autonomy, ability to adapt to change, proactive, diligent, and strong interpersonal skills;
  • Knowledge of best practices, methodologies, processes, and tools in engineering;
  • Experience in estimation, planning, and project follow-up, as well as team supervision;
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral;
Assets

The following assets are highly valued:

  • Detailed knowledge of avionics products (display systems, sensor systems, or GNSS systems, for example);
  • Experience with Xilinx FPGA (7 Series, Ultrascale) and the Vivado design tool;
  • Experience with automated testing using scripting languages similar to Python;
  • Knowledge of Mathworks products;
  • Knowledge of civil and military aviation standards, such as DO-254 development process and qualification standards DO-160 and MIL-STD-810/461;
  • Knowledge of Modelsim/Questasim;
  • Knowledge of SystemVerilog and the universal verification methodology (UVM);
  • Knowledge of bus standards ARINC, AMBA, AXI, PCIe, and Ethernet;
  • Experience in designing for safety/reliability and avionics/critical systems for flight;
  • Mastering configuration, documentation, and traceability tools (Microsoft Office, DOORS, etc.);
  • Bilingualism (French and English, spoken and written).
