Financial Operations Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Operations Specialist to join our team at Grain Millers Yorkton. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the ongoing operations of accounting functions, including general accounting, reporting, and analyzing inventory operations, as well as processing payroll.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares month-end general ledger entries and generation of financial statements.
- Calculates monthly expense accruals and reviews accounts for reasonability.
- Reconciles accounts and adjusts as required, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepares daily inventory transactional entries and GST and PST returns.
- Understands payables, vendor management, and multiple currencies.
Inventory Management:
- Responsible for the daily accounting of warehouse inventories, reviewing and adjusting entries as necessary.
- Reconciles book inventory to physical inventory at month-end, including physical inventory counts.
- Works with off-site warehouses to verify and monitor inventory.
- Ability to understand multiple software systems and link them together.
Payroll Functions:
- Processes essential payroll functions and performs regular monthly payroll journal entries.
- Understands pension and union reporting requirements and assists with tracking and maintaining accruals.
- Reviews and processes final payroll for reasonability before employees are paid.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce or Business Administration.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in an accounting environment.
- Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Highly proficient with accounting software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office or similar software.
