As a Medical-Legal Nurse Specialist with Vitalité Health Network, you will play a critical role in providing expert care to victims of trauma, abuse, and violence. This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires a unique blend of clinical expertise, compassion, and critical thinking.
Key Responsibilities- Provide medical-legal exams and assessments to victims of trauma, abuse, and violence
- Develop and implement individualized care plans to address the physical and emotional needs of patients
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and support
- Conduct thorough evaluations and assessments to identify potential risks and develop strategies for prevention
- Provide education and support to patients and their families on trauma, abuse, and violence prevention
- Participate in court proceedings as an expert witness to provide testimony and support
- Current registration with the Association of Registered Nurses of New Brunswick or eligibility for registration
- Valid SANE certification or willingness to obtain within six months
- Completion of SIR training and certification in CCSIT, SARP, and ACLS (considered an asset)
- Experience working in emergency settings (considered an asset)
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work independently
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong clinical evaluation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to write clear and concise documentation
- Advanced skills in vaginal exam at speculum or willingness to obtain necessary training
- Autonomy and flexibility
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments and provide nursing care using appropriate interventions, techniques, and safety protocols
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently
- Physical ability to perform assigned duties
- Strong work history (performance and attendance)
