Job Summary

As a Medical-Legal Nurse Specialist with Vitalité Health Network, you will play a critical role in providing expert care to victims of trauma, abuse, and violence. This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires a unique blend of clinical expertise, compassion, and critical thinking.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical-legal exams and assessments to victims of trauma, abuse, and violence
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to address the physical and emotional needs of patients
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and support
  • Conduct thorough evaluations and assessments to identify potential risks and develop strategies for prevention
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families on trauma, abuse, and violence prevention
  • Participate in court proceedings as an expert witness to provide testimony and support
Requirements
  • Current registration with the Association of Registered Nurses of New Brunswick or eligibility for registration
  • Valid SANE certification or willingness to obtain within six months
  • Completion of SIR training and certification in CCSIT, SARP, and ACLS (considered an asset)
  • Experience working in emergency settings (considered an asset)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong clinical evaluation and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to write clear and concise documentation
  • Advanced skills in vaginal exam at speculum or willingness to obtain necessary training
  • Autonomy and flexibility
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments and provide nursing care using appropriate interventions, techniques, and safety protocols
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Physical ability to perform assigned duties
  • Strong work history (performance and attendance)
  • Adherence to professional ethics, Vitalité Health Network's management philosophy, and organizational values
