Job Title: Recreational Therapist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Recreational Therapist to join our team at Fraser Health. As a Recreational Therapist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing therapeutic recreation programs and activities for our clients. Your goal will be to help our clients achieve their cognitive, psychosocial, emotional, and physical abilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs and activities for clients
  • Liaise with the interdisciplinary team to review client care plans and implement clinical interventions
  • Assess clients and provide work direction to designated staff as required
  • Develop and evaluate recreation therapy programming to meet client needs
  • Educate clients and families on therapeutic recreation therapy treatment
  • Promote client access and participation in community resources
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences and family conferences
  • Maintain client records and clinical outcome measures
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation from a recognized educational institution
  • Two years' recent related experience working with older adults in a community setting
  • Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Therapeutic Recreation and/or BC Therapeutic Recreation Association
  • Valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes
Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of therapeutic recreation and current trends
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, consult, and advise
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work in a continuously changing environment
