Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a Recreation Therapist, you will play a vital role in assessing, planning, implementing, and monitoring Recreation Therapy services to meet the individual needs and abilities of patients in our hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' social and leisure abilities and develop individualized plans of care in collaboration with the interprofessional team.
  • Implement and evaluate Recreation Therapy programs, making modifications as necessary to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to promote patient access to community resources and support their transition from hospital to home.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families on aspects of Recreation Therapy treatment.
  • Participate in interprofessional team conferences and family conferences as needed.
  • Contribute to the development of recreation programs in assigned areas and provide input on program evaluation and modification.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Therapy or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • One year of experience in Therapeutic Recreation or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Eligibility for membership with the BC Therapeutic Recreation Association (BCTRA).
  • Successful completion of Foodsafe Course Level 1.
  • Valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for work-related purposes.
