Job Title: Recreational Therapist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Recreational Therapist to join our team at Fraser Health. As a Recreational Therapist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing therapeutic recreation programs and activities for our clients. You will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to assess client needs and develop personalized care plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs and activities for clients
  • Assess client needs and develop personalized care plans
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to review client care plans and implement clinical interventions
  • Provide education and support to clients and families on therapeutic recreation therapy treatment
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences and family conferences
  • Maintain client records and clinical outcome measures

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation from a recognized educational institution
  • Two years' recent related experience working with older adults in a community setting
  • Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Therapeutic Recreation and/or BC Therapeutic Recreation Association
  • Valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of therapeutic recreation and current trends in evidence-based practice
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, consult, and advise
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others
