As an Abilities Case Specialist with Southlake, you will be part of a dedicated team that prioritizes the health and safety of employees. This role is critical in ensuring seamless operations by managing employee disability claims efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

This position entails:

  1. Developing and implementing effective strategies to manage employee disabilities, focusing on short and long-term claims
  2. Providing proactive support to employees to maintain their ability to continue working
  3. Collaborating with employees, managers, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth return-to-work processes
  4. Evaluating medical documentation and making informed decisions regarding benefits
  5. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date Employee Chart/ Claim file records
  6. Promoting employee well-being and productivity through the implementation of temporary and permanent workplace accommodations
  7. Engaging with the return-to-work committee and other relevant groups to facilitate collaboration and communication
  8. Fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive results-oriented outcomes
  9. Contributing to the success of the Attendance @ Work Framework
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • A degree in a relevant health-related field, such as nursing, occupational therapy, or physiotherapy
  • Substantial experience in disability claims management, with a minimum of three years
  • A proven track record in unionized environments, preferably within the healthcare sector
  • Professional registration and association membership (desired)
  • A deep understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Expertise in cost analysis, negotiation, and conflict resolution
  • A proven ability to design and implement successful return-to-work programs
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Parklane (a plus)
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to navigate complex situations and develop innovative solutions
  • Adaptable and flexible, with a focus on customer satisfaction and teamwork
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and a commitment to continuous learning
