About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated Fire and Life Safety Coop Student to join our team at LRI Engineering, a Canadian engineering firm specializing in Fire Protection Engineering. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in fire safety planning, emergency management services, and building code consulting.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will assist with various tasks related to fire safety and emergency management services, including preparing fire safety plans, conducting risk assessments, and interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings. You will also work closely with clients to develop and implement safety plans in compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of fire safety plans and emergency plans
  • Conduct risk assessments and produce reports
  • Review and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Assist in fire code compliance reviews and audits
  • Design and coordinate fire safety training, drills, and exercises
  • Communicate with clients via telephone, email, and letter
  • Travel to client sites as required

Requirements:

  • Currently attending or recently graduated from a University or College program related to Fire Safety or Fire Protection
  • Interested in the fire protection, life safety, and emergency management industry
  • Familiarity with building, fire, life safety, and emergency management codes, standards, and best practices
  • Technically oriented with good analytical and organizational skills
  • Able to complete tasks and projects in established timelines
