Job Title: Heavy Equipment Technician

Golderado Contracting Corp is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. As a Heavy Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of heavy construction equipment, ensuring that our fleet is in top working condition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate service truck in the field to diagnose and repair equipment issues.
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting equipment.
  • Service attachments and working tools to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Verify and repair emission control systems to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
  • Keep maintenance records and documentation up to date.
  • Instruct apprentices and provide guidance on equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Perform repair work on heavy trucks and other equipment.
  • Communicate with site management to coordinate maintenance priorities and ensure that equipment is available when needed.
  • Promote safety awareness by ensuring compliance with corporate health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to prevent equipment failures and downtime.
  • Operate heavy equipment safely at the work site.
Requirements:
  • Heavy Duty Technician Certification or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Completion of a three- to five-year apprenticeship program or a combination of over three years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college, or industry courses in heavy equipment repair.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting and repairing CAT, John Deere, and Hitachi equipment is an asset.
  • Experience in Heavy Civil Earthworks Construction and/or Infrastructure is required.
  • A valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent is required.
  • A driver's abstract is required and must be obtained no more than 30 days prior to employment start date.
  • Class 3 Driver's License with air brakes is an asset.
  • Ability to handle up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • A reliable means of transportation is required.
  • Proficient English language skills are required.
Education:

Journey Level Heavy Duty Technician Certification or equivalent is required.
