Oncology Nursing Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Oncology Clinic team. As a dedicated member of our care team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and providing support to our patients and their families.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for examinations by performing duties such as escorting patients to the examining room, weighing patients, and providing comfort measures.
  • Prepare examining rooms for patient consultations and examinations by checking and laying out clean instruments, stocking rooms with required supplies, and cleaning and making up rooms for the next patient.
  • Assist nursing and medical staff with physical examinations by handing and receiving instruments and supplies, receiving and preparing specimens, and delivering them to the laboratory.
  • Perform a variety of nursing procedures such as catheterizations and sterile dressings, colostomy care and irrigation, taking and recording vital signs, administering medications, and taking temperatures.
  • Maintain instruments and equipment by cleaning them using the Steris system, checking function, and reporting any malfunctioning equipment to the leader for action.

Your Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current full practicing licensure with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, with a focus on staying up-to-date with the latest oncology nursing practices and evidence-based care.
