Senior Accountant - Equipment

Colas Western Canada Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our financial team, you will be responsible for assisting the General Manager Equipment with financial reporting requirements and overall management of financial transactions related to the Equipment Activity.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise a team of accountants/clerks/admins to achieve financial goals.
  • Manage financial transactions of all Fixed Assets from initial purchase to disposal, including IFRS and other Capital requirements.
  • Set up and transact Depreciation for fixed assets in accordance with Colas Policies, providing forecasting to assist with budget preparations.
  • Ensure proper coding and allocation of financial transactions related to the Equipment and Shop business units.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and analysis of monthly financial statements.
  • Process insurance transactions related to equipment, including payment and reconciliation.
  • Reconcile and post utilization hours for non-metered equipment.
  • Ensure financial transactions related to equipment repairs are allocated and coded correctly.
  • Record transactions, reconcile, and manage inventory of the Equipment activity.

Requirements:

  • CPA or working towards CPA designation.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accountancy, with 3 years as a Senior Accountant or similar role in the construction industry.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Advanced communication skills, including oral, written, and technical.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and HCSS - Heavy Bid, Heavy Job, Preconstruction Etc.
