Job Overview

Boart Longyear, a global leader in drilling services, is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Mississauga, Ontario. As a key member of our technical staff, you will be responsible for applying engineering principles to design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes and products.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and Development: Conduct investigations and tests to develop new designs, methods, materials, or processes, and investigate possible applications of results.
  2. Quality and Process Improvement: Obtain, correlate, and analyze technical information to accomplish assigned tasks, and prepare reports, charts, graphs, and other documents.
  3. Lean Management and Optimization: Originate and develop designs of various products, processes, components, or equipment, and analyze moderately complex technical information.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 3-5 years of directly related experience.
  3. Familiarity with ISO-9001 Quality System and ISO-14000 Environmental System.
  4. Must have permanent work authorization for Canada.
  5. Valid Canadian Driver's License.
  6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  7. Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), AutoCAD, Oracle, Manufacturing Systems.
  8. Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
  9. Experience working on lean tools (5S, time study, standard work, SMED, value stream mapping, problem-solving tools, TPM – Autonomous Maintenance, etc.).
  10. Review daily production goals to identify gaps and improve; perform tracking through visual charts and reporting on progress.
  11. Managing daily production improvements and continuous improvement projects to improve on Safety, Quality, Cost & Delivery goals.
  12. Instill a continuous improvement culture through Tier (Team) Meetings, Leader Standard Work, Gemba Walk, Accountability board, etc.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in continuous improvement initiatives. Knowledge of health and safety protocols and regulations.
