Qualifications and Requirements

**Education and Experience**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as an Indigenous Support Worker. The ideal candidate will possess a Diploma in Community Social Services or a related field, with a minimum of two years of recent experience working with Indigenous communities and resources.

**Knowledge and Skills**

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Indigenous health issues, protocols, and health needs, including the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of clients and communities. They will also possess knowledge of legislation such as the Mental Health Act and the Guardianship Act, as well as available programs and their interrelationships.

**Key Responsibilities**

The Indigenous Support Worker will be responsible for providing culturally sensitive services to Indigenous populations, including:

  • Communicating effectively with clients and colleagues
  • Dealing with others effectively and prioritizing client demands
  • Practicing from a harm reduction approach and building relationships with clients
  • Delivering culturally sensitive services and promoting positive change and independence
  • Working cooperatively as part of a multidisciplinary team

**Preferred Qualifications**

Preference will be given to candidates of First Nations, Métis, or Inuit heritage who possess a strong understanding of Indigenous culture and protocols.
