Recreation Aide - Extendicare Medex

We are seeking a qualified Recreation Aide to join our team at Extendicare Medex, a 193-bed long-term care home in Ottawa, Ontario. As a Recreation Aide, you will play a vital role in planning and implementing activities that promote the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized activity plans that cater to the diverse needs and interests of our residents.
  • Set up and maintain activity areas, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for residents.
  • Transport residents to and from programs, providing assistance as needed.
  • Monitor resident behavior and condition during activities, reporting any concerns to the Resident Program Manager and nursing staff.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless delivery of resident care and services.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Recreation and Leisure Services or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Experience in program planning and implementation for diverse populations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of gerontology and cognitive impairment.
