Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Healthcare Administrative Support Associate to join our team at Interior Health Authority. In this role, you will provide administrative support to our nursing unit, ensuring the smooth operation of patient care services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize, process, coordinate, and transcribe physicians' orders in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Serve as a communication link for the unit, facilitating effective communication between staff members, patients, and families.
  • Schedule, book, and coordinate patient appointments, maintaining accurate records and updating relevant systems.
  • Assemble and maintain patient charts, inputting data and transcribing information into electronic health record systems.
  • Perform various clerical duties, including data entry, filing, compiling statistics, producing reports, and delivering items to designated locations.
  • Maintain timekeeping records for regular and relief staff, submitting payroll information in a timely manner.
  • Monitor patient call signals and relay messages to the appropriate personnel, ensuring prompt response to patient needs.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent education.
  • A current typing test of 40 wpm or greater completed within the past 48 months from a recognized institution.
  • A Nursing Unit Clerk Certificate.
  • One year of recent experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to keyboard 40 wpm and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work and operate related equipment.
