Nutrition Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Nutrition Specialist to join our team at Compass Early Learning and Care. As a Nutrition Specialist, you will play a vital role in planning, preparing, and cooking nutritious and delicious meals and snacks for our children and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and prepare healthy and balanced meals and snacks that meet the dietary needs of our children and staff.
- Collaborate with our team of nutrition specialists to ensure that our food service operations are running smoothly and efficiently.
- Develop and implement seasonal menus that take into account the Canada Food Guide, Ministry of Education, and Compass Early Learning and Care policies and guidelines.
- Build and maintain relationships with families and staff to ensure that their dietary needs are met and that they are informed about our food service operations.
- Work closely with our staff and volunteers to ensure that our food service operations are safe and clean.
- Ensure that all food safety and handling procedures are followed to prevent cross-contamination and foodborne illness.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce food waste and promote sustainability in our food service operations.
- Post-secondary education in nutrition, food service management, or a related field.
- Experience working in a food service environment, preferably in a childcare or educational setting.
- Knowledge of the Canada Food Guide and Ministry of Education policies and guidelines.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
