**Make a Difference in Mental Health Care**

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Provide nursing care on units across Homewood Specialized Services, adapting to fluctuating patient needs according to CNO standards and RNAO Best Practice Guidelines.
  • Contribute to patient care plans, ensuring necessary clinical assessments are initiated and followed up on.
  • Administer psychiatric and non-psychiatric medications and treatments, ensuring patient safety and well-being.
  • Engage with interdisciplinary teams and individual team members to provide comprehensive care.
  • Act as a preceptor, mentor, coach, or resource nurse as needed, supporting the growth and development of colleagues.
  • Participate in clinical discussions, team meetings, and patient/family conferences to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Accept changing work assignments across Homewood Specialized Services, adapting to the needs of the organization and patients.

**Requirements:**

  • Current registration as an RPN with the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing.
  • Up to 6 months of experience in general nursing practice, with a focus on psychiatric care.
  • Current CPR certification and knowledge of the Mental Health Act (MHA).
  • Knowledge of documentation standards (CNO) and privacy legislation (PHIPPA).
  • Ability to effectively manage crisis situations and deal with acutely ill patients.
  • Current knowledge and experience of assessment and treatment of psychiatric disorders, including prevention of suicide and management of aggressive behavior.
  • Ability to work independently and with a multi-disciplinary team, with proficient computer skills and experience working with various systems and software applications.
