About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group in Peterborough, Ontario. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and testing of mechanical equipment and systems for CANDU reactors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop complex mechanical equipment and systems for CANDU reactors, including automated and semi-automated fuelling machines, robotic systems, and maintenance tooling.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design and development meet project requirements and industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, technical reports, and engineering drawings.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to ensure design excellence and compliance with industry standards.
  • Support the development and implementation of new technologies and processes to improve product development and deployment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Current Professional Engineer (PEO) license or working towards obtaining one.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in design engineering, preferably in the nuclear industry.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with 3D CAD software, such as Inventor or Solidworks, and FEA software, such as ANSYS.
  • Familiarity with CSA Nuclear Codes and Standards, as well as ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes and Standards.
  • Knowledge of machine design and manufacturing processes.
