Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our team at CB Canada. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the accounting and clerical department, planning and directing all accounting operational functions, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the executive team and partners to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the company.
  • Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques.
  • Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts.
  • Research, prepare, and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required.
  • Assess deliverables of self and team to verify they meet client expectations.
  • Evaluate, implement, and streamline policies, procedures, controls, and methodologies.
  • Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports.
  • Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis.
  • Capable of handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties.
  • Lead the operations of the finance department, which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll.
  • Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds.
  • Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of KPI Reporting.
  • Adeptness in auditing.
  • Variance analysis experience.
  • Month-end closings experience.
  • Expertise in Internal Control.
  • General familiarity with financial statement preparation.
  • Cash Flow Reports experience highly desired.
  • Budget forecasting experience.
  • Excellent technology, analytics, and management experience required.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.
  • CPA/MBA preferred.
  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred.
  • Vow to meet business deadlines.
  • Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued.
  • Strong communication and social skills and able to receive criticism well.
  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or other business-related field.
  • High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills.
