About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Research Scientist to join our team at Conservation Ontario. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with expertise in watershed planning and management, green infrastructure, and climate change adaptation and mitigation.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct routine research work, including quantitative and spatial analysis, to inform environmental management best practices.
  2. Create high-quality reports, case studies, and technical strategies to support internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Design and implement detailed technical analyses and assessments, including statistical and trend analysis, modeling, and risk or scenario analysis.
  4. Collaborate with teams to collect data according to standardized protocols and ensure the provision of high-quality information to Conservation Ontario and its partners.
  5. Presents at conferences, scientific roundtable gatherings, or public events to enable knowledge transfer and build networks.
Requirements
  • University degree in Biology, Geography, Environmental Sciences, Climate Change, Forestry, Geomatics, or a related field.
  • Experience with the full research lifecycle, including identifying research knowledge gaps, seeking funding, designing and conducting experiments, and publishing research findings.
  • Sound working knowledge of science, policy, and best practices surrounding land use, climate change adaptation and/or mitigation, green infrastructure, as they pertain to ecosystem management and/or watershed planning and management.
  • Able to comprehend documentation that is technical or scientific in nature and skilled in writing technical reports or manuals.
