Music Therapist

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Music Therapist to join our team. As a Music Therapist, you will provide music therapy services to residents of our Unit, working within the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for Music Therapists as described by the Canadian Association for Music Therapy.
About You- We are looking for a Music Therapist who holds a baccalaureate in Music Therapy and is currently registered with the Canadian Association of Music Therapy.
- One year of recent clinical experience is considered an asset, but not required.
- You must have professional music skills, including proficiency on piano or guitar and voice, and the ability to improvise on primary instruction.
- You will work independently and as part of a team within an acute care environment, interacting positively with residents, families, and other healthcare providers.
- You must be able to adapt to the needs of residents, assisting them in meeting their fullest physical and emotional potential.
- You will be responsible for promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft, email, and internet, are required.
- You must be physically and mentally capable of performing the duties of the position, including working with residents with various medical conditions and dealing with stressful situations.
- Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French preferred.
- This is a permanent part-time position, 20% FTE, with 15 hours biweekly.
The successful candidate will receive a competitive hourly rate of $39.23 and may be eligible for our benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
