Music Therapist

We are seeking a skilled Music Therapist to join our healthcare team at Nova Scotia Health. As a Music Therapist, you will provide music therapy services to residents in our care, working within the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for Music Therapists as described by the Canadian Association for Music Therapy.
Using a holistic care-giving and care-receiving approach, you will respect the human dignity and acknowledge the various abilities of the residents. You will work in collaboration with a team of professionals and exhibit sound professional judgment and initiative while working within the established philosophy, objectives, guidelines, legislations, policies and procedures, Mission, Vision and Strategic Directions and incorporate into daily practice the Core Competencies and Values of the organization.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate who holds a baccalaureate in Music Therapy, is currently registered with the Canadian Association of Music Therapy, and has one year recent clinical experience. You should also have professional music skills, including proficiency on piano or guitar and voice, and the ability to improvise on primary instruction.
You will be able to work independently, as well as on a team within an acute care environment, and have excellent oral, written and listening communication skills. You will also be able to interact positively with residents, families, other health care providers and staff with a pleasant and cooperative attitude, demonstrating sensitivity, empathy and warmth.

We offer a competitive salary range of $32.32 - $39.23 hourly, as well as a benefits package that includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, and a defined benefit pension plan.
