Music Therapist

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Music Therapist to join our team. As a Music Therapist, you will provide music therapy services to residents in a healthcare setting, working within the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for Music Therapists as described by the Canadian Association for Music Therapy.
About You- You must hold a baccalaureate in Music Therapy and be registered with the Canadian Association of Music Therapy.
- One year of recent clinical experience is considered an asset, but not required.
- You must have professional music skills, including proficiency on piano or guitar and voice, and the ability to improvise on primary instruction.
- You must be able to work independently and as part of a team in an acute care environment.
- You must have excellent oral, written, and listening communication skills.
- You must be able to interact positively with residents, families, and other healthcare providers and staff.
- You must be able to adapt to the needs of residents and assist them in meeting their fullest physical and emotional potential.
- You must be able to demonstrate critical thinking and sound decision-making skills in crisis situations.
- You must be committed to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health.
- You must have basic computer skills, including Microsoft, email, and internet.
- You must be physically and mentally capable of performing the duties of the position.
- This is a permanent part-time position, 20% FTE, with 15 hours biweekly.
The hourly rate for this position is $32.32 - $39.23.
Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
