Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Residence Desk Porter to join our team at the University of Guelph. As a key member of our Facilities and Desk Services team, you will provide exceptional service to residence students and university visitors, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide information and referrals to students and visitors, directing them to appropriate resources on campus.
  • Manage work orders and dispatch Residence Life staff to respond to situations.
  • Monitor building security and ensure the safety of residence students and staff.
  • Provide services at the residence desk, including check-in/check-out, key sign-out, and equipment sign-out.
  • Assist with summer conference and desk duties, including registration and room preparation.
  • Perform facilities materials handling tasks, including moving equipment and materials.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Considerable experience dealing with the public.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using Excel, MSWord, and the University's resources.
