Job Summary

The Upper Canada District School Board is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant to provide support to students with exceptional needs in our schools. As a key member of our team, you will work under the direction of the Principal and in consultation with the Learning Resource Teacher (LRT) and classroom teacher to provide individualized support to students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide academic and social support to students with exceptional needs in a classroom environment
  • Implement special education programs related to behavior, communication, intellectual, or physical needs
  • Support the instruction of individual and/or groups of students in an academic and/or integrated class environment
  • Oversee special education students and implement special education programs
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of specific social/emotional and physical needs of students with learning disabilities, behavioral challenges, developmental disabilities, or physical challenges
Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will possess a secondary school diploma and two-year or three-year Community College Diploma in one of the following fields:

  • Child & Youth Worker
  • Registered Early Childhood Educator
  • Behavioral Science Technician
  • Developmental Services Worker
  • Social Service Worker
  • Registered Nurse
  • Registered Nursing Assistant
  • Registered Practical Nurse

Bachelor Degrees in Child Studies, Sociology, and Psychology will also be recognized. Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training/certification is an asset, as is related work experience.
