Electrical and Instrumentation Superintendent Job Overview

Kiewit Energy Canada is a leading industrial contractor specializing in engineering, procurement, and construction services for the oil, gas, chemical, and related process industries. As an Electrical and Instrumentation Superintendent, you will play a critical role in overseeing the electrical and instrumentation aspects of our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor and develop junior superintendents to ensure their growth and success in their roles.
  • Review and approve labor rates for foremen, journeymen, and laborers to ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Manage contract administration, including communication with subcontractors and field management.
  • Develop and implement a program to maintain excellent client relationships, involving staff on site.
  • Initiate and attend meetings with clients to resolve problems and plan for project completion.
  • Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections.
  • Review, approve, and negotiate change orders to ensure project timelines and budgets are met.
  • Develop and implement a plan for project completion and turnover, ensuring a smooth transition to the next phase.
  • Maintain a daily diary for record-keeping purposes and ensure timely completion of performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Recommend organizational, policy, and procedural changes as needed, and review and approve promotions up to General Foremen.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of construction experience, with 3+ years in a Superintendent/Leadership capacity, preferably on industrial projects such as oil/gas facility construction or renewable energy-related construction.
  • Proficiency in electrical and instrumentation systems, including PLCs, DCS, and SCADA.
  • A self-starter with excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding Kiewit's policies, procedures, and software programs.
  • Strong experience in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration.
