About the Role

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aircraft Deicing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Deicing Operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient removal of ice and snow from aircraft surfaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate deicing equipment to remove ice and snow contamination from aircraft surfaces
  • Perform airfield security detail and escort duties as required
  • Conduct walk-about inspections and pick up Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and litter in designated areas
  • Act as first-level response to contain oil and other spills or clean up debris in designated areas
  • Demonstrate proper operating procedures to new employees and provide training as required
  • Conduct daily inspections, maintenance programs, and cleaning on mobile deicing equipment and deicing vehicles
  • Perform landscape maintenance tasks on airside and groundside areas, including grass cutting, flower bed maintenance, and tree care
  • Operate a variety of deicing equipment designed for airports to control ice and snow contamination
  • Perform other duties as required
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Experience in Aircraft Deicing Operations and heavy equipment operation is considered an asset
  • Valid Provincial Driver's G License Required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a D/A class AVOP permit within 30 days of appointment
  • Ability to obtain Confined Space certification
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Transport Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather and lift varied amounts of weight for extended periods
  • Knowledge of Aircraft Deicing and related deicing equipment
  • Knowledge of Aircraft operations, flight surfaces, and basic principles of flight
  • Knowledge of equipment operation, mechanics, inspection, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of situational awareness and safe operating practices
  • Knowledge of airfield and groundside layout and maneuvering
  • Knowledge of spills containment procedures and reporting processes
  • Knowledge of landscape maintenance techniques
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 related procedures, Hazmat, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods
