Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our Burlington, Ontario team at TWD Technologies.

Job Summary

The Intermediate Mechanical Engineer is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing various aspects of mechanical engineering, piping engineering, and design support. This includes participating as a member of dynamic project teams with a wide range of tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise, perform, and check most types of calculations and design using both computer-aided and manual techniques.
  • Provide assistance to the Dept. Manager in areas such as schedules, estimates, progress reports, meetings, procurement, activities, etc.
  • Organize and plan jobs, write and review specifications, write technical bid evaluations, prepare and maintain schedules, develop and monitor estimates and manpower forecasts, work with project/client/field, material procurement, permit, and subcontract activities.
  • Utilize vendor data and work with personnel from other disciplines as required for the performance of designs.
  • Travel, as required, to ensure the successful execution of project and/or department goals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • P.Eng. is an asset.
  • 5-10 years of experience in the field of specialization from graduation.
  • Mechanical Engineer background specific knowledge of ASME B31.3, majority of work is piping.
  • Experience in field setting, not just design work in the office.
  • Experience of relevant NACE codes are a plus.
  • Familiarity with the design of distribution related electrical systems is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering theories and principals.
  • Able to conduct detailed calculations to ensure that designs meet engineered standards and applicable codes.
  • Experience with multiple phases of projects including preliminary and detailed design, tendering, construction supervision, and commissioning is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator's License to facilitate independent travel to project sites and other office locations.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a range of personalities to establish effective working relationships with the required stakeholders.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a dynamic office environment with occasional travel to project sites and other office locations. The physical demands of the job include sitting for extended periods, manual dexterity to use computer and peripherals, and occasional standing and/or walking for extended periods. The successful candidate will also be required to drive on public roadways, private roadways, and active construction sites.
