Position Title: Director, Enterprise Risk Management
Department: General Counsel's Office
Status: Permanent, Full-Time (Hybrid)
The Director of Enterprise Risk Management is responsible for leading the organization's risk management framework, ensuring it remains fit for purpose and aligned with industry standards. This involves defining metrics and thresholds to monitor and report on CIRO's risk profile, as well as supporting strategic planning processes to identify risks associated with organizational strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a comprehensive annual risk and control assessment to identify CIRO's significant risks and emerging risks, assess the effectiveness of risk mitigation, and identify control gaps and opportunities for enhancement.
- Design control tests and perform verification of controls associated with mitigating CIRO's significant risks.
- Lead the organization's Risk Committee to provide senior executive oversight of CIRO's risk management, as per the Committee's charter.
- Present results of completed risk assessments and a comprehensive annual risk report to the appropriate Committees and the Board as required.
- Perform annual reviews and summaries of vendor risks and remediate as necessary.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensure CIRO has an appropriate resiliency framework to manage risks to business continuity.
- Establish and deliver risk education to support business/operational units in understanding and fulfilling their risk management responsibilities.
- Lead CIRO's support role for internal audit with CIRO's outsourced partner.
- Contribute to the development of the annual internal audit plan to address findings of the risk analysis and ensure adherence to requirements of governing bodies.
- Manage the internal audit outsourcing relationship and ensure feedback is obtained from management on performance and proactively shared with the outsourced audit partner and the FAR Committee.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary degree in Business, Risk Management, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification in risk management (e.g., CRMP, CIRM).
- Strong project management ability and drive to projects as required in accordance with risk management.
- General knowledge of the investment industry and capital markets an asset.
