We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Enterprise Risk Management and Governance to join our team at CIRO / OCRI. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our risk management and governance efforts, ensuring the organization's strategic and operational risks are identified, evaluated, and mitigated.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Risk Management Framework: Ensure our risk management framework remains fit for purpose and up to date with industry standards, defining metrics and thresholds to monitor and report on our risk profile.
- Support Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior management to ensure risks associated with strategies are identified and aligned with our organizational approach.
- Identify and Assess Risks: Support management in identifying and assessing risks and controls for their area of operation, providing proactive risk management support.
- Lead Risk and Control Assessments: Conduct comprehensive annual risk and control assessments to identify significant risks, emerging risks, and control gaps, as well as opportunities for enhancement of mitigation.
- Design and Verify Controls: Design control tests and perform verification of controls associated with mitigating our significant risks.
- Lead Risk Committee: Chair the organization's Risk Committee to effect senior executive oversight of our risk management, providing guidance on risk management.
- Present Risk Reports: Present results of completed risk assessments and a comprehensive annual risk report to the appropriate committees and the Board as required.
- Manage Vendor Risks: Perform annual reviews and summaries of vendor risks, remediating as required.
- Establish Resiliency Framework: Ensure we have an appropriate resiliency framework to manage risks to business continuity.
- Deliver Risk Education: Establish and deliver risk education to support business/operational units in understanding and fulfilling their risk management responsibilities.
- Support Internal Audit: Lead our support role for internal audit with our outsourced partner.
- Contribute to Internal Audit Plan: Contribute to the development of the annual internal audit plan to address findings of the risk analysis and ensure adherence to requirements of governing bodies.
- Manage Internal Audit Outsourcing Relationship: Manage the internal audit outsourcing relationship, ensuring feedback is obtained from management on performance and proactively shared with the outsourced audit partner and the FAR Committee.
- Post-Secondary Degree: Post-secondary degree in Business, Risk Management, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional Certification: Professional certification in risk management (e.g., CFA/FRM) is preferred.
- Leadership Experience: Minimum of 5+ years leading ERM in a similar scope role.
- ERM Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of ERM, COSO framework, and systems.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships with department heads, external auditors, and internal auditors.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically, quickly absorbing and synthesizing new information.
- Project Management: Strong project management ability and drive to projects as required in accordance with risk management.
- Industry Knowledge: General knowledge of the investment industry and capital markets is an asset.
