Job Title: Construction Cost Estimator

Chandos is seeking a skilled Construction Cost Estimator to join our team. As a key member of our estimating department, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely cost estimates for construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and maintain unit costs, labour rates, and productivity factors for various construction projects.
  2. Conduct site visits and meetings to gather information and understand project scope.
  3. Prepare and review cost estimates, including materials, labour, and equipment costs.
  4. Evaluate and recommend allowances for indirect costs, design unknowns, escalation, and contingency.
  5. Collaborate with the operations team to negotiate contracts and change orders.
  6. Participate in commercial and contract negotiations for sub-trade buy-outs.
  7. Attend client interviews and provide technical assistance as required.
Qualifications:
  1. Post-secondary degree or diploma in construction, engineering, or a related field.
  2. Three or more years of experience in estimating, preferably in the construction industry.
  3. Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to interpret building specifications and schematics.
  4. Proficiency in cost-estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
