Job Title: Senior Corporate Lawyer

At Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Corporate Lawyer to join our team in Toronto. As a key member of our global legal team, you will provide strategic, creative, and commercial support and advice across various investment-related projects and enterprise matters.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal advice on structuring, regulatory matters, new business lines/platforms, and enterprise-wide commercial considerations.
  • Engage with investors, external counsel, and other internal stakeholders on complex investment strategy, institutional-level, and project-related matters.
  • Support the development and implementation of policies, procedures, systems, and training to support the implementation of advice and risk management.
  • Anticipate, identify, and assist in managing legal risks relating to new investment or enterprise strategies and activities, and new or changed laws or regulations that impact CPP Investments' investment and enterprise strategies.
Requirements:
  • LL.B./LL.M/JD or equivalent required.
  • 7-10 years of post-qualification corporate/commercial legal experience gained at a major law firm or in-house corporate legal department.
  • Financial institution or asset management experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including an ability to work cooperatively with many different stakeholders and ability to manage external counsel.
