The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Technologist III to join our team at SAIT. This permanent full-time position will provide maintenance and service support to various programs, including Welding, Heavy Equipment, Machinist, Millwright, Autobody, and Automotive.

The Role

As a Technologist III, you will be responsible for:

• Maintaining and controlling inventory used in the labs, including stocking consumables and preparing associated materials.

• Processing metal coupons for labs and performing maintenance and repairs to operational and non-operational equipment to OEM standards.

• Preparing and maintaining demonstration equipment for instructors and providing technical support to sections.

• Researching equipment specifications for proper repair schedules and procedures.

• Monitoring and maintaining hand tools, power tools, and tool boards, and maintaining inventory of all tooling.

• Adhering to safety legislation, guidelines, and safety standards as required by government agencies or regulators, and those communicated by management and supervisors.

• Following all SAIT general Health & Safety regulations, rules, codes of practice, and standard operating procedures in the HSME Manual.

• Fabricating training aids and stands for demonstration units and organizing, coordinating, and setting up lab environments for instructors.

• Supervising the work of others on maintenance projects and communicating general objectives and goals and work assignments to your team.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A minimum High School Diploma.

• Strong communication, both written and verbal, and excellent organizational skills and time management.

• Fluent in English reading and vocabulary and mechanical aptitude.

• Ability to supervise others and a Class 5 license – abstract required.

• Must be able to safely lift 20 kilograms, extended walking, bending, etc., and be willing to be trained in the following: SAIT COR Safety program, First Aid (Emergency), WHMIS, and any section-specific training.

• Journeyperson certification in an applicable trade is preferred.

• Ability to adapt to situations such as unexpected workloads and provide service with a smile.

• Intermediate level proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Salary Range: $73, - $83,928
