Position Summary

The Dr. John Archer Library and Archives at the University of Regina is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to fill the role of Associate Dean (Academic). As a key member of the library leadership team, the successful candidate will provide strategic direction and leadership in the planning, development, and implementation of academic programs, services, and initiatives that support the university's research and teaching mission.

About the Position

Reporting to the Dean, University Libraries and Archives, the Associate Dean (Academic) will be responsible for providing vision and leadership to the development and implementation of academic programs, services, and initiatives that advance the university's research and teaching mission. This includes providing leadership and mentorship to library staff, working closely with faculty and academic departments, and building partnerships with external organizations and communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for academic programs, services, and initiatives that support the university's research and teaching mission.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to library staff, including librarians, archivists, and support staff.
  • Work closely with faculty and academic departments to develop and implement academic programs, services, and initiatives that support the university's research and teaching mission.
  • Build partnerships with external organizations and communities to advance the university's research and teaching mission.
  • Develop and manage budgets and resources to support academic programs, services, and initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of academic programs, services, and initiatives, and make recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in library science or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in academic librarianship, with a focus on academic programs, services, and initiatives.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with experience in strategic planning, budget management, and staff development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and external partners.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with experience in developing and implementing initiatives that promote these values.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a university library or academic setting.
  • Experience in developing and implementing academic programs, services, and initiatives that support the university's research and teaching mission.
  • Experience in building partnerships with external organizations and communities to advance the university's research and teaching mission.
  • Experience in developing and managing budgets and resources to support academic programs, services, and initiatives.
