Job Overview
The Residence Worker, Full-Time position at WJS Canada is responsible for providing support and care to individuals in our residential programs. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with clients, staff, and other stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality services.
Responsibilities
Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:
- Providing life skills training and support to clients, including meal preparation, housekeeping, and personal care skills.
- Assisting clients with activities of daily living, such as feeding, lifting, and transferring.
- Participating in client-focused activities in accordance with care plans.
- Recognizing and responding to potential emergency situations, such as client aggression.
- Administering medication to clients in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Assisting with case management, including identifying potential problems and reporting difficulties to supervisors.
- Providing emotional support and feedback to clients and their families.
- Transporting and assisting clients to appointments, shopping, or leisure activities.
- Maintaining reports, statistics, and logbooks related to client care.
- Identifying and accessing community resources and services to support client needs.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A certificate, diploma, or degree in a relevant field, such as social work or a related field.
- Minimum one year of recent experience in a community-based setting, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
- Valid CPR/First Aid, WHMIS, and Food Hygiene and Sanitation certificates.
- Valid BC Driver's License and a clean driver's abstract.
- Positive behavior supports experience.
