Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Forest Technician Assistant. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in various locations across Ontario, gaining valuable experience in forest-related field, lab, and office work.

About the Job:

  • Assist staff with tasks such as identifying tree and plant species, determining soil types, and assessing tree and forest health.
  • Conduct fieldwork, including outdoor activities in inclement weather, often with travel to remote locations.
  • Collect, process, and test tree seeds, establish studies and trials, and collect and compile data using technology such as data loggers, GPS units, rangefinders, and digital cameras.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Student status or recent graduation from secondary or post-secondary institution.
  • Age 15 years or older.
  • Residency in Ontario during the term of employment.
  • Legal entitlement to work in Canada and a valid Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN).
  • Excellent verbal, written, and active listening communication skills.
  • Initiative and interpersonal skills for collaborative teamwork.
  • Familiarity with tree and plant species in Ontario, experience reading maps or aerial photographs, and navigating with a GPS or compass.
