Our client, a leading full-service law firm, is seeking an entrepreneurial Lawyer with 3+ years of experience in Bankruptcy and Insolvency matters.

Your New Role

In this role, you will be involved in financial reorganizations, debt restructurings, debtor and creditor rights, security enforcement, forbearance/standstill arrangements, receivership, and related matters for financial institutions, court and privately appointed receivers, interim receivers, liquidators, landlords, suppliers, trustees in bankruptcy, corporate and individual borrowers, and other interested parties.

You will act on behalf of Monitors under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act, and other stakeholders in dealing with these matters. Advising and representing Trustees in bankruptcy. You will work on large transactions in various stages of bankruptcy proceedings with an understanding of accounting and financial issues that affect restructuring transactions. Conducting incorporations and reorganizations as needed.

Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years' post-call experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in Bankruptcy proceedings, court and privately appointed receiverships, crisis management, debt collection and insolvency, receivership, and restructuring
  • Strong teamwork skills, trustworthy, accountable, proactive, and positive work attitude
  • Confidence and legal acumen to do great work, and relish in the thrill and accomplishment of winning a case to better your client's causes
  • Thorough knowledge of the Construction Act and other relevant legislation, as well as the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act
