Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Addiction Medicine Physician to join our team at the North Sydney Recovery Support Centre. As a key member of our inter-professional clinical team, you will provide evidence-informed withdrawal management and related mental health and addiction care in an outpatient setting.
Responsibilities- Assess and manage substance use disorders, working collaboratively with the clinical team to initiate and monitor withdrawal management protocols.
- Conduct risk assessments and interventions for suicide, self-harm, or harm to others, ensuring timely and effective care.
- Develop and implement care and discharge plans in collaboration with clients, the clinical team, and family members.
- Provide trauma-informed and culturally safe care, prioritizing the unique needs of each individual.
- Maintain accurate and timely health records, adhering to Nova Scotia Health documentation policies.
This full-time position requires a total of 37.5 hours per week, with work hours Monday to Friday between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm.
Qualifications- Current certification in Addiction Medicine through a recognized professional organization, such as the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) or the International Society of Addiction Medicine (iSAM).
- Active credentials and privileges with Nova Scotia Health Authority.
- Liability insurance through the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
Clinical experience in Addiction Medicine is an asset, but not a requirement. Training and mentoring opportunities are available for those with limited or no experience in this setting.
