Job Summary

The Senior Network Operations Engineer will be responsible for designing, operating, and supporting our data network and voice services. This role will ensure the stability and efficiency of our network services, meeting our service levels and performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain network infrastructure components, troubleshoot network issues, and resolve problems.
  • Lead the managed services provider (MSP) network team, delegating operational activities and ensuring the enterprise-wide Data/Voice/Video network is designed, installed, configured, maintained, and secured.
  • Analyze network functions, evaluate services provided, and develop technology roadmaps and recommendations.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and ensure the proper toolsets and procedures are implemented, maintained, and utilized.
  • Monitor utilization trends, manage network performance, and ensure maximum uptime, performing ongoing analysis, capacity planning, and technical tuning of network systems to improve performance.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and regulations, and address and resolve all issues.
  • Plan, develop, and design network management and maintenance projects, including policies and procedures, operational improvements, and evaluates new technology integration.
  • Participate and lead large-scale network service project implementations, including team members and across service providers.
  • Direct vendors in the successful completion of operational support activities.
  • Participate in tier 3 infrastructure support activities, including incident management, and support the assessment and delivery of application upgrades and patches.
  • Ensure the integrity and stability of voice and data network services across the enterprise.
  • Ensure documentation of the environment and operational processes stay current.
  • Monitor and remain abreast of emerging technologies for possible introduction into the organization.
  • Manage vendor relationships in all related technologies (HW, SW, Circuits, toll frees, etc.) to ensure services are delivered effectively and efficiently.
  • Work within a team environment, manage systems, lead upgrades, coordinate installs, and work from a ticketing queue.

Requirements

  • Completion of a diploma in Computer Science or a related discipline, or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent.
  • 6-8 years of related work experience with a background in Network infrastructure, design, and development of corporate systems standards.
  • Excellent knowledge of the principles, practices, and standards of the IT Cloud operation.
  • Experience analyzing solution needs and determining resources required to meet objectives enterprise business solutions.
  • Experience working with diverse, distributed teams and managed services provider.
  • Experience with multiple, industry-standard, structured, and agile methodologies.
  • Problem-solving, interpersonal, and oral/written/presentation skills to lead the analysis, design, and development of enterprise business solutions across multiple platforms.
  • ITIL Foundations, an asset.
  • Industry-specific certifications (Vmware, Citrix, Microsoft), an asset.
  • Azure, Oracle experience an asset.
  • Knowledge of operating systems, middleware, and other technologies for building and maintaining multi-tiered systems.
  • Ability to work with multiple platform technologies such as Windows and Linux, desirable.

Compensation

The budgeted range for this position is $88,000 - $120,000, taking into account several factors and qualifications that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, education, training, licenses, certifications, and other business and organizational requirements.
