At Ontario Teachers', we're looking for a seasoned Technical Middleware Architect to lead our middleware strategy and implementation.

The role involves designing, planning, and executing on the introduction of middleware technologies to support business needs. You will work closely with various service providers to coordinate implementation and plan, gather, and translate technical requirements into infrastructure solution designs.

This is a senior technical position that requires experience in designing distributed, high availability middleware designs. You must have demonstrated ability in designing Enterprise Infrastructure Services running various Compute, Network & Storage ecosystems.

We're offering a competitive salary range of $150,000 - $220,000 per annum, plus numerous opportunities for professional growth and development, comprehensive benefits coverage, and a defined benefit pension plan.

In this role, you will:

  • Define and manage Technology Infrastructure (TI) controls
  • Implement Configuration Management and Infrastructure as Code (Chef, CloudFormation, Terraform)
  • Evaluate and introduce new TI technology (hardware and software)
  • Coordinate FOAK testing and POCs (scoping and execution)
  • Collaborate on deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment, security, and availability
  • Procure hardware, software, and software licensing
  • Provide Level 3 Support for infrastructure and COTS software
  • Prioritize builds in coordination with Business & Demand Management function
  • Architect, design, and implement On-Prem and Cloud-Based solutions

You will also mentor and coach junior technical staff and managed services staff. If you have experience working with a Global Managed Services provider and possess ITIL Foundations and TOGAF certifications, you will have a strong advantage in this role.

To succeed in this position, you must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated at technical professional and customer/stakeholder level.
