About the RoleThe Patient Care Support Specialist will be responsible for providing direct care to patients, including tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, as well as assisting with meal preparation and administration of medications. You will also maintain patient records, monitor vital signs, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
Responsibilities- Direct Patient Care: Provide individualized care to patients, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, as well as assisting with meal preparation and administration of medications.
- Monitoring Vital Signs: Monitor patients' vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, and pulse, and report any changes or concerns to healthcare professionals.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams, both verbally and in writing.
- Education: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year.
- Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, and Health Care Aide Certificate.
This position is located in an urban area, specifically in a nursing home/home for the aged. You will work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure, and will be required to stand for extended periods, lift up to 45 kg (100 lbs), and combine sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day.
Salary and BenefitsThe estimated salary for this position is $45,000 per year, based on industry standards and location. Adaptacare offers a comprehensive benefits package, including dental plan, disability benefits, health care plan, paramedical services coverage, vision care benefits, group insurance benefits, and life insurance. Free parking is available on site.
