Job Title: Special Education Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at T'lisalagi'lakw School. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education to students with special needs.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement inquiry-based, problem-solving, and project-based learning opportunities to cater to diverse student needs.
  • Implement specialized instructional intervention methods and approaches to support students with special needs.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to ensure students receive tailored support.
  • Prepare and deliver long-term, monthly, and daily lesson plan activities that meet the needs of students with special needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, education assistants, and cultural workers to enhance learning outcomes and ensure students' overall needs are met.
  • Develop relationships with parents to collaborate on enhancing learning outcomes and ensure students receive the support they need.
  • Enforce the school discipline policy and participate in school supervisory and extra-curricular teams as required.
  • Provide written student evaluation reports and attend parent-teacher conferences to ensure students receive the support they need.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records.
Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Education degree.
  • Special Education certification preferred.
  • Member in good standing with the BC College of Teachers.
  • 2 years' special education teaching experience in a First Nations environment preferred.
  • Satisfactory criminal records and vulnerable sector search.
