We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marketing and Communications Director to join our team at Trans World Radio Canada. As a key member of our Executive Leadership Team, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission of reaching the world through mass media with the message of hope found through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Marketing Strategy
    • Collaborate with staff team to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy and plan, reflective of the overall strategic plan of the organization.
    • Oversee and assist in the creation of materials related to the promotion of TWR Canada's fundraising programs, to support donor cultivation and solicitation as well as donor stewardship and engagement with an emphasis on Christian narratives.
  • Lead Brand and Storytelling
    • Develop, manage and monitor a departmental budget.
    • Oversee, analyze, produce and post compelling Christian content, aligned with the marketing and communications plan for various channels (leveraging social media assets, website, newsletters, fundraising campaigns), highlighting accomplishments and inspiring action, with the goal to increase financial and volunteer engagement, and increase click-through rates.
  • Manage Digital Presence
    • Liaise with Christian media to develop relationships, distribute press releases if necessary, and secure coverage of stories relevant to TWR's role in the missionary landscape.
    • Work directly with TWR Canada's external agency resources to act as the main contact and coordinate marketing and communication-related activities, reflecting our Christian values.
  • Oversee Communication Products
    • Maintain the TWR Canada website with current and relevant faith-based information in collaboration with other staff.
    • Monitor, analyze and maximize traffic on TWR Canada's website via Google Analytics and AdWords.
  • Lead Team and Mentor Direct Reports
    • Oversee all communication products, including newsletter communications, prayer calendars and/or other Christian discipleship materials and subscriber lists from a faith perspective.
    • Develop and maintain the organization's brand voice and faith-based storytelling guidelines.
    • Oversee and mentor direct reports (2), establishing goals, setting priorities, managing performance and identifying training opportunities, reflecting Christian values where possible, for the departmental team.
  • Promote Signature Events
    • Promote signature events to churches and other stakeholders for optimized participation and revenue generation.
  • Evaluate and Improve
    • Evaluate current marketing and communications tools and materials to ensure the approach is aligned with Christian values, are up-to-date and best practices are employed.
    • Manage production of marketing materials, negotiating with third party vendors.
  • Provide Leadership and Coaching
    • Provide scripting and coaching to the President and other spokespersons for both internal and external communications, as needed, with an emphasis on TWR's Christian mission.
    • Regularly participate and lead staff devotions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related experience.
  • 5-7 years of marketing experience, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to be a change agent, inspiring others through creativity and innovation.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated experience writing articles, correspondence, reports, proposals, written and visual narratives, and other collateral for both print and digital publication across multiple channels for diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional understanding of donor, stakeholder and volunteer audiences.
  • Motivational communication style, comfortable with public speaking on behalf of the organization.
  • Familiarity with social media best practices across multiple platforms.
  • Solid understanding of how to develop and deploy acquisition campaigns using digital funnels.
  • Strong proficiency in graphic design programs and other digital marketing tools, analytics, and content management systems (WordPress preferred).
  • Deep understanding of email marketing practices and legislation such as PIPEDA and CASL, and platforms such as Constant Contact.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities, in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Experience in developing brand voice and content style guides.
  • Excellent photo and video editing skills.
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging narratives for diverse audiences.
  • Experience working for a charity or non-profit is an asset.
  • Ability to travel (primarily in Canada) for a minimum of 50 days per year including weekends (up to 10 days per travel event).
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada, and have completion of a successful police check.
